It's like Deja Vu all over again.
In April 2012, just after that year's Borgata Spring Poker Open, the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot climbed over $600,000 and then hit - in a combo of a small bad beat jackpot and full jackpot hits on the same day - for better than $617,000. The full jackpot hit for $567,524 and the small for $50,000 on April 26, 2012.
You know, like exactly one year ago this Friday.
OK, I'm not predicting any double hits tomorrow, but the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpotis sitting at a pretty impressive $552,805 going into today's (April 25) play. And we did just finish up the 2013 Borgata Spring Poker Open.
Just saying.
By the way, the record for a Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot hit is $636,000 in February 2012. Who knows? We might get there again.
If you are new to the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot - and nothing attracts newbies like a jackpot over $500,000 - here's the rundown.
Borgata offers a duel Bad Beat Jackpot system. The full jackpot is hit when a hand of quad 10s or higher is beaten in a cash game. The Small Bad Beat Jackpot hits when a minimum of quad deuces to quad nines is beaten.
The Small Bad Beat Jackpot is 25 percent of the total jackpot, but tops out at $50K, where it is now. If it hits, the total jackpot loses the $50K.
The payout is 40 percent for the bad beat winner/loser, 20 percent for the hand winner and the remaining 40 percent divided between the other players at the table. That's right, you just have to be at the table, and not necessarily in the hand, to get a share.
As for the history, well, it's just a reminder that this kind of money is real. Right now, a full jackpot winner/bad beat loser would get better than $220,000.
