The Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot survived another weekend, adding about $12K to it's total, and now sits at $579,211 going into today's (April 29) play.
That means it's closing in on a new Borgata record - sort of. The Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot has a mysterious way of hitting twice - once for a Small Bad Beat Jackpot at $50K, and then for the full jackpot - when it gets to these lofty heights.
That happened twice in 2012 when the jackpot passed $600K. We've already outlined what happened in April 2012, but the same thing happened in February 2012 when a $50K jackpot hit, followed the next day by a $586,711 hit.
So the actual record for a full Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot hit is that $586K mark, not $636,000 as I said before (Sorry, I'm easily confused). At it's current pace, the Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot should be there by Wednesday.
But whatever. Records are nice, of course, but the point is the jackpot is huge. Right now a full jackpot hit will give the bad beat winner/loser at better than $230,000 payday.
Here's all the info on The Borgata Bad Beat Jackpot.
And for fans of poker on TV (which is most of us), The WPT is televising September's Borgata Open Championship - a WPT event -over the next three weeks. You'll have to check you local listings to track the numerous air times. The first episode premiered April 28.
Spoiler alert -
The Championship title went to Ben Hamnett of Pittsburgh who took home the $818,847 first prize.
